The Managing Trustee, The Rt. Rev. James Kenneth Ooko Ochiel started his career as a teacher in public schools then moved on to train in Theology and Church Ministry, served as a Church Minister for several years, during which time he trained, he trained and worked as a Church Administrator.

In his career development, he trained and practiced on Management, Public Administration, Economics, Organizational Development among others. He later trained as a Community Health and Development Professional with a major on Policy Analysis, Project Planning and Development.

Besides, he has worked as Human Resource Manager in both academic and corporate institutions, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and Programs Consultant. He has been the Chairman of the Executive and the General Assembly of an International body, sponsoring the Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK) in Kenya.

Bishop Ochiel currently chairs a Regional Board of Directors, whose portfolio is Ksh.1 billion and leads a Team with an ambitious plan of developing a 17 storey complex in the regional County of Kisumu worth Ksh.1.2 billion.

He has served as an Anglican Church Diocesan Bishop since the year 2002. His chequered career has inspired him to found a TRUST Charity to respond to diverse social and economic needs of the poor and vulnerable communities as well as advocate for social justice. These phenomena’s are the order of the day in the developing world in which the TRUST finds itself.

The SILOAM TRUST bases its philosophy on building healthy and healing communities with a consequence of a just and free society in which people are able to enjoy civil liberties and take control of their destiny.

He holds certificates in Economics, Organizational Development, Corporate Governance, Higher Diploma in Community Health & Development, Bachelor of Divinity and Masters in Community Health & Development. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Peace and Reconciliation. Has been a University Lecturer since 2001 to date.
